Summary/Objective
Grind Tech is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the knife grinder to produce an adequate supply of sharp knives for the operation of the standers through disassembly, cleaning and re-assembly of knife packs which meet the specification for sharpness, tolerances and set up. The Grind Tech must be able to identify problem conditions and take appropriate corrective actions to either correct the problem or to obtain assistance.
Job Duties
- Sharpen Granulator/Paper knife blades daily.
- Sharpen Planner Knives.
- Have boxes built if needed for blades.
- Honing blades.
- Cleaning blades.
- Clean machines as scheduled.
- Measurements and documentation of certain blades.
- All quality standards are to be maintained at all times.
- Meet expected deadlines for work completed.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Follow all OSHA regulations and standards.
- Report all maintenance and safety issues within department and with equipment to Department Lead.
- Understanding, written and spoken directions.
- Perform all other duties and tasks as needed.
Job Requirements
Must be able to:
- Work 40-50 hours as needed.
- Work weekends or holidays when needed.
- Lift 50-70lbs
- Use a fork truck
- Bend, squat and stand as required for the job.
- Follow Directions both written and spoken.
- Understand forklift safety.
Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
