The Grinder performs the cleaning and preparation of castings for shipment per written process guidelines using powered grinding and chipping tools. This position performs all tasks ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality at all times.
This is a 1st shift position with an hourly wage of $20.34 after 90 days of employment. There is the ability to earn incentive/piece rate per hour also.
Employees are scheduled (4) 10 hour days per week.
What You'll Do:- Acquires specific job process card before starting grinding job.
- During work shift, performs duties including removing excess fins, parting lines, pads, sand, and other casting impurities. Also, using various grind tools including, cup grinders, pencil grinders, air hammers, stand grind machines, swing grind machines and cut-off-wheel machine.
- All grind numbers and part information is recorded by the grinder on a daily timesheet received from the supervisor. This information is done accurately and turned in daily.
- Keep work area clear of hazards and clutter and prepares area daily for next shift.
- Know proper hooking of all castings and attend daily scrap review meeting.
- Minimum of completion of the tenth (10) grade or high school.
- Must possess the ability to follow written and verbal directions.
- Must have ability to physically perform all tasks, which include the ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift fifty pounds on a regular basis.
- Must have ability to operate all tools and powered overhead cranes.
- Must be trained in all safety requirements, including, hazard recognition, PPE requirements and use, and any other safety requirements for employment.
- Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or submit to weekly testing.
