Groundskeeper

Job Type: full-time, non-exempt

Groundskeeper Job Responsibilities:

• Maintaining site landscaping.
• Maintaining lawn, trees, flowers, shrubs, turf, and irrigation.
• Fertilizing lawn, trees, flowers, shrubs and spreading mulch.
• Trimming trees, hedges, and preventing/eliminating weeds.
• Operating and maintaining hand tools, such as loppers, saws, and shovels.
• Operating and maintaining equipment and power tools.
• Utilizing insecticides, fertilizers, and chemical sprays.
• Keeping grounds free from trash, litter, debris, and emptying trash receptacles.
• Removing snow by using a shovel or snow blower.

Groundskeeper Qualifications / Skills:

• Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
• Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours
• Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time
• Experience with using tools and equipment needed for landscaping.
• Background in handling, mixing, and using chemicals
• Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
• Communication skills
• Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders and work at heights
• Ability to follow instructions.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic math skills
• High school courses in shop may be preferred for jobs involving repair work
