Groundskeeper, Sr. cuts and maintains lawns and grass. Rakes leaves and cares for plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs. Being a Groundskeeper, Sr. determines the appropriate plants or shrubs for walkways or garden areas. Provides grounds maintenance in all seasons. Additionally, Groundskeeper, Sr. is responsible for snow and dirt removal. Keeps the grounds and environment of a facility in a clean, attractive, orderly, safe, and healthy condition. Operates light trucks and assorted power equipment. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on gardening and grounds equipment. May require horticultural training. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Groundskeeper, Sr. works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Groundskeeper, Sr. typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

Job Description:
Maintain safe and attractive grounds and landscaping for the district.
Responsibilities:- Mow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields
- Care for trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds
- Plant shrubs and vegetation
- Assist with the preparation of athletic fields for games, including chalking fields
- Water grounds and apply fertilizer
- Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from district facilities.
- Assist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Maintain accurate, updated records of preventive maintenance
- Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures
- Help keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition
- Transport workers and equipment to work sites throughout the district.
- Work irregular hours as needed
Qualification:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:- Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B)
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Grounds:- Ability to operate tractor and landscaping equipment
- Ability to operate riding or power mower, power tools, and hand tools
- Ability to operate a truck and trailer for transporting grounds keeping equipment
- Eligible for Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
General:- Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions including safety instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)
- Ability to work independently and with a group
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations
