Groundskeeper, Sr. jobs in Syracuse, NY

The Syracuse City School District has a vacant Groundskeeper position in its Facilities Department. Typical job duties are shown in the attached Civil Service description: https://employment.ongov.net/default/show_jobdesc/27620

This is a 40 hour per week, 12 month per year position. The working hours for this position are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with non-mandated overtime opportunities available based on operational needs such as after-school athletic activities and snow removal. As of July 1, 2023, the starting rate for this position is $19.63 per hour per the Unit 6 contractual agreement. On July 1, 2024, the starting rate increases to $20.22 per year with the Step 2 (top) rate being $26.01 per hour. This position has a generous benefit package including paid time off, health care and participation in the NYS retirement system. The ideal candidate has a wide variety of grounds experience with experience operating large commercial vehicles and equipment to remove snow and cut grass.

Qualifications:

• Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications as indicated on the Onondaga County Civil Service job description for this title.

• Candidates must have a valid NYS Type A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at time of appointment in order to operate the required district vehicles.

• This position requires a minimum education level of High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).

• The successful candidate will be required to pass a fingerprint-based background check, at the cost of $101.75 to the candidate.
