Utilizes underwriting guidelines, rules, standards, and levels of authority to accept, reject, or mitigate risk for applications and determine appropriate premiums, limits, and coverages. Being an Group Underwriter calculates renewal rates. Ensures that underwriting activities comply with all industry and governmental regulations. Additionally, Group Underwriter may coordinate with field agents to collect or clarify information or decisions. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Group Underwriter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. This position currently follows a hybrid work schedule, with three in-office days. Tuesday and Thursday are Company anchor days, and the third day will be worked out with your manager.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Evaluate personal auto, property and liability risks for acceptability in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and philosophies. Build positive relationships with agents and team members to achieve department and company goals. Assist underwriters in an engaging team environment.
Provide strong operational support to ensure insurance product transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Identify opportunities to improve productivity and processes within the department and assist in the development and implementation of these methods. Complete individual tasks in a timely and accurate manner while also contributing to a team environment by accomplishing additional job-related responsibilities.

Property & Casualty insurance courses preferred.
