Utilizes underwriting guidelines, rules, standards, and levels of authority to accept, reject, or mitigate risk for applications and determine appropriate premiums, limits, and coverages. Being an Group Underwriter calculates renewal rates. Ensures that underwriting activities comply with all industry and governmental regulations. Additionally, Group Underwriter may coordinate with field agents to collect or clarify information or decisions. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Group Underwriter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. ARC Group seeks a Commercial Insurance Underwriter to join our direct in their Ft. Lauderdale, FL offices. The Commercial Insurance Underwriter will report to the Underwriting Director and will be responsible for examining applications for insurance submissions and evaluating the risk of them. The underwriter is in charge of making decisions to either approve or disprove any application within the Underwriting delegations granted by the director of Underwriting.

Commercial Insurance Underwriter Responsibilities:- Obtaining initial contact with prospective insureds
- Reviewing of initial information provided by prospective insured / agents.
- Managing new submissions review and set up
- Quote preparation, including continuous communication with prospective insured / agent until policy binds / it is decided it will not move forward
- Pricing / rating of new submissions / discussion with Underwriting Manager
- Application preparation, submission, follow up until completion
- Application review for accuracy
- Binder issuance / policy issuance upon down payment confirmation.
- Preparation and timely delivery of binders and vehicle identification cards upon binding of coverage.
- Monitoring timely and accurate issuance of certificates upon policy issuance / or upon insured's request
- Preparation of renewal submissions; preparation of renewal proposals, including continuous communication with insured until renewal contract binds / it is decided it will not move forward
- Managing policy cancellations
- Maintaining and building relationships with insureds and agents
- Providing customer service
- Contributing in achieving and maintaining production goals
- Monitoring and facilitating Underwriting Assistant/s duties
- Assisting in a variety of administrative tasks
Commercial Insurance Underwriter Requirements:
- Must have 3-5 years of commercial insurance underwriting experience, outstanding customer service and communication skills (verbal and written), and attention to detail.
- A college degree is preferred but not required
