    Guest Services Inc. is seeking a Special Events Manager that has a customer-oriented approach in a fast-paced environment.

    Candidates must display great leadership, excellent customer service, and attention to detail.


    This position starts at $18.00 to $19.00/hr.

    Locations include St. Andrews State Park in Panama City all the way down to Flamingo Adventures in South Florida and a few places in between. Although most of the work would be in North Florida, candidates will need to be willing to travel to other locations the rest of the time.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Special Events Manager is responsible for managing the transporting, set-up, breakdown and safe storage of all special events equipment and vehicles. This position also assists in management of the food production planning, execution and efficient utilization of leftover product. The Special Events Manager must also provide overall planning, direction and control to all employees within the event; to achieve operating and financial goals, to ensure food quality, and to meet client objectives and/or customer needs. The Special Events Manager should be able to provide support to other businesses in the area when needed or in off-season.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Coordinate the setup and supervises the installation and staffing for Special Events throughout assigned areas.
    • Supervise the execution of the event.
    • Recruit, supervise, train, schedule, discipline, and direct Event staff.
    • Control expenses. Determine food and supply needs for venue. Maintain inventory control of food and supplies.
    • Maintain and ensure safe facility environment including standards for food production and handling, cooking, housekeeping, sanitation, dress, cash control, and employee hygiene.
    • Plan the load in and out of equipment for special events. Order equipment and supplies, schedule staff, design equipment layouts, and obtain quotes from suppliers.
    • Flexibility for re-assignments to other accounts as needed
    • Maintain awareness of safety issues, and report them immediately to your manager.

    SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

    • High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent required; Management, Culinary or Associate’s degree in food service, parks and recreation, or related field preferred.
    • At least 3 years significant food service experience or equivalent level position experience. Special event management experience preferred.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    • Experience in analyzing financial reports.
    • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
    • Ability to problem solve; experience in complex, fast-paced environments; experience in multi-unit environment.
    • Working knowledge of the business processes and system development. Strong customer service background.

    PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS


    • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
    • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
    • Ability to stand for the entire work day.
    • Climbing steps regularly.
    • Withstanding temperature extremes in freezer, refrigerator walk-in and grill areas; and indoor and outdoor environments.
    • Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
    • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
    • Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees in fast-paced kitchen.
    • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
    • Valid driver’s license required.

    • Commercial Kitchen Machinery, Appliances, Tools, and Utensils.
    • Field transportation vehicles, including golf carts, Gators, and other motorized vehicles.
