PAYROLL ACCOUNTANT CONTRACTOR
Project Overview:
• Support payroll manager and team on various programs or business initiatives services within the Payroll and Payroll tax function.
Contractor’s role:
• Serves as an expert payroll and payroll accounting resource or go-to person to support the payroll manager and team with day to day functions and tasks
Experience Level:
• 3-5 years overall experience payroll, payroll tax, G/L and related functions.
Qualifications:
• 3-5 strong payroll experience, including payroll tax, G/L and related functions
• Strong excel skills
• Experience with automated payroll systems, preferably Workday experience
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize work to meet objectives as assigned
• Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve

Tasks & responsibilities:
• Responds to complex payroll inquiries from all levels throughout the organization to explain adjustments to pay and tax law changes.
• Analyzes existing policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with state and federal wage and tax laws. Utilizes existing payroll processes to ensure compliance with legislated requirement, with attention to legislative requirement changes, and notification to management of same.
• Performs more complex system level tasks related to payroll calculations and system processes.
• Resolves highly confidential/sensitive payroll issues.
• May respond to employment tax notices, research state/local tax refunds, and respond to 3rd party tax provider inquiries.
• Researches and reaches understanding of regulatory and legislative changes impacting assigned areas of payroll to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Participate and support process improvements within the team.
• May review work of others, and approves transactions based on SOX requirement to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Interacts with different committees, management and internal/external auditors as needed.
• Interfaces with HRIT and Global Payroll team for purposes of system/process development.
• Interacts with payroll team to train, cross train, and enhance support to contribute within the department during times of planned an unplanned leave. Contributes to overall coverage during peak processing times and project oriented priorities.
