HVAC Mechanic performs maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. Installs new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines. Being an HVAC Mechanic follows blueprints or engineering specifications to install units. Performs troubleshooting to identify the cause of problems. Additionally, HVAC Mechanic maintains and secures a spare parts inventory. Recommends purchasing maintenance equipment and supplies as required to improve processes and efficiencies. Typically requires an apprenticeship and/or completion of technical training. Requires a high school diploma. The regulations governing the location may require an HVAC Mechanical State License and EPA Section 608 Certification (CFC). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The HVAC Mechanic works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Perform day to day assignments via work orders and/or instructions from Foreman to ensure timely and accurate completion.
Interface all HVAC equipment repairs in harmony with other internal functional departments as required minimizing disruption and maximizing effectiveness.
Comply with established inventory, equipment distribution, equipment operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the efficient, effective and safe operation of the department.
Notify Foreman of any equipment requiring repair or replacement to ensure a safe and effective workplace.
Adhere to the policies regarding MCCNO and departmental procedures.
Assist/ perform HVAC renovation projects to improve building operations.

Other Skills and Abilities
Must demonstrate technical expertise in the field of HVAC as prescribed by city, state and national codes.
Must be able to operate heavy machinery such as tow motors, lifts, boom trucks, etc.
Ability to work in elevated locations up to 80 feet preferred.
