HVAC Supervisor supervises and coordinates the operations, maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. Oversees the installation of new units and replacement parts and ensures work is completed according to company, product, or engineering specifications and established safety guidelines. Being an HVAC Supervisor conducts quality testing and inspections. May authorize equipment, supplies, parts, or repairs purchases. Additionally, HVAC Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree. Requires an HVAC Mechanical State License and EPA Section 608 Certification (CFC). Typically reports to a manager. The HVAC Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an HVAC Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. General Responsibilities
Plans, coordinates, and supervises the HVAC Shop activities and assignments of assigned skilled trades personnel and contractors. Directs the assignments of level I – (trades helpers), level II and level III trades employees in the appropriate class series; provides technical advice and production assistance when necessary and inspects all major projects. Develops and refines the work routine of assigned personnel and carries assignments through to completion; does related work as required or assigned. Assignment to HVAC related skilled trades maintenance and installation work.
Education and Experience
Completion of high school, including or supplemented by completion of appropriate apprenticeship training and considerably and progressively more responsible experience in the appropriate trade, some of which will have been in a level III (lead) capacity or equivalent; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the above noted knowledge, skill, and ability.
