HVAC Supervisor supervises and coordinates the operations, maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. Oversees the installation of new units and replacement parts and ensures work is completed according to company, product, or engineering specifications and established safety guidelines. Being an HVAC Supervisor conducts quality testing and inspections. May authorize equipment, supplies, parts, or repairs purchases. Additionally, HVAC Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree. Requires an HVAC Mechanical State License and EPA Section 608 Certification (CFC). Typically reports to a manager. The HVAC Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an HVAC Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Primary Responsibilities
· Operates, installs, alters, maintains, and repairs HVAC equipment and controls
· Inspects, repairs, and/or replaces equipment used in 24-hour operations
· Responds in a professional, polite, and helpful manner when dealing with customers
· Monitors and adjusts building automation systems
· Oversees work done by outside contractors for adherence to HVAC best practices and applicable codes and reports back to supervisor
· Researches, request purchases and inventories equipment parts, chemicals and supplies
· Assists and serves as back up to other Facilities employees
· Trains and directs the work of other classified staff in the area
Additional Responsibilities
· Assists in emergencies as needed including emergency calls at non-scheduled hours
· Completes permitting process as needed, per local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ)
· Performs other tasks as instructed including, but not limited to, painting, furniture moving, plumbing, cleaning and assisting other trades as necessary
· Maintains appropriate service and repair records; documents information in an on-line computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
· Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction
· Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes
· Maintain record keeping in compliance to Laws as well as client documentation requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS *
Education, Required Skills & Competencies
· High school or technical school graduate
· Five or more years’ experience with commercial HVAC equipment and systems
· Universal CFC certification
· Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record. Position may require driving company or client-owned automobiles and/or powered industrial trucks Classes I-V
· Knowledge of the equipment, tools, and materials used in building maintenance
· Estimate labor or material costs/amounts from blueprints or work plans
· Measure distances with a tape measure or other measuring device
· Work in small, cramped areas such as crawl spaces, equipment enclosures, closets, etc.
· Climb ladders or steps to reach work areas; work at heights greater than ten feet
· Move heavy objects (50 pounds or more) long distances (more than 20 feet)
Position requires Background and Drug Screening prior to employment.
