Hand Bindery Worker assembles and binds printed materials into books, periodicals and pamphlets. Performs a variety of tasks including measuring, cutting, trimming, sorting, and folding materials to produce finished bound product. Being a Hand Bindery Worker may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Hand Bindery Worker typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. Duties:
-some positions may be stand up and others may be sit down
- Operate bindery equipment such as folding machines, cutting machines, stitching machines and glue machines
- Set up and adjust machines according to job specifications
- Monitor production process to ensure quality control standards are met
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues
- Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in bindery or print production preferred
- Familiarity with bindery equipment such as forklifts, and layout design software
- Knowledge of print advertising and typography principles
- Ability to read and interpret job orders and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality control checks
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
