- Provides assistance to Club Members and guests in getting underway and securing their vessels. (Etiquette of good seamanship)
- Assists members in guests in the use of all marina recreational equipment.
- Provides all standard operating procedures including boat washing, holding tank pump-outs, safe fueling of boats, bait sales, ice delivery, and golf cart maintenance
- Maintains the cleanliness of the entire harbor area. Must keep all gates and lots locked and secure at all times, including the fuel dock area and dock office.
- Raises the American flag and Club Burgee at the appointed time and lowers them at sunset. Senior Club officer’s flag (for an officer on Club grounds) is also flown at the appointed time until sunset.
- Continually observes boat traffic entering and exiting the marina.
- Reports any misconduct to the Dock Master and General Manager.
- Keeps dock office and captains’ lounge neat and tidy at all times. Office duties also include computer work and detailing fuel sales daily. Ordering supplies including but not limited to live bait, frozen bait, motorboat oil, office supplies, recreational equipment, and supplies.
- Assists with Monthly Member Billing, Trailer Storage, Bait, and Fuel Billing.
- Operates the ship to shore radio (VHF) equipment per the rules and regulations set forth by the FCC. Carries a VHF radio at all times.
- Uses Club equipment as needed. (Pump a Head, golf carts, pressure washer, club truck, club boat, kayaks, Paddle, Boards, etc.)
- Boat captain’s license preferred
- He or she must participate in storm preparation. (See Hurricane Preparation Plan Checklist Page 35-37.)
Miscellaneous/Additional Skills:
- Computer skills are required as well as knowledge of bookkeeping, data entry, and spreadsheets.
- Without direction, duties require application and use of boating and marina knowledge to perform a variety of tasks for the fulfillment of waterfront objectives. Initiative and good judgment are required to service the member’s boating needs.
- Knowledge of yacht club etiquette and protocol is a must. Coast Guard and common-sense safety requirements and applications thereof.
- Contact with Club Members when necessary.
- Conduct conversations with Club Members in a friendly, courteous, respectful, and professional at all times.
- The uniform of the day will be worn while on duty -- the uniform must be kept impeccably clean. The Club supplies uniforms (See uniform standards).
- Conventional boating conditions apply-outdoor and indoor duties with occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.
- Physical labor is required for the completion of many tasks. Shifts include weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.'
