Hand Compositor/Typesetters sets type by hand and machine. Assembles type and cuts in galley for printing articles, headings, and other printed matter. Being a Hand Compositor/Typesetters determines type size, style, and compositional pattern from work order. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Hand Compositor/Typesetters may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. The Shop hand will assist in keeping an orderly shop area. This person is directly responsible for the cleaning, oiling, and maintaining of shop tools, machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, and equipment-in the shop. The shop employee will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the shop tasks required at the location in Carriere, MS. The McNeill shop supports the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) and Pacific job operations.
