Hand Compositor/Typesetters sets type by hand and machine. Assembles type and cuts in galley for printing articles, headings, and other printed matter. Being a Hand Compositor/Typesetters determines type size, style, and compositional pattern from work order. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Hand Compositor/Typesetters may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Fuoss Angus Ranch is a family-run business nestled in the heart of the central part of the state north of Draper, South Dakota. Our ranch has a rich history dating back to 1949 when our grandfather, Henry Fuoss, embarked on the journey of crossbreeding Hereford cows with Angus bulls. Today, we carry on his legacy and have built a thriving commercial Angus herd.
As a Ranch Hand, you'll play a crucial role in our daily operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Livestock Care: Assist in the care and management of our Angus herd, including feeding, calving, and general health maintenance.
- Cropping: Participate in some farming activities, which include wheat, corn, milo, and sunflower cultivation. Help with the harvesting process and graze cattle on stubble fields.
- Maintenance: Contribute to the maintenance of ranch facilities and equipment to ensure the smooth operation of our day-to-day activities.
- Backgrounding: Be involved in the backgrounding of cattle, including purchasing feeder calves from our bull customers.
- Assist in Sales: Support our annual bull sale and production sale events, helping to ensure their success.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of cattle handling and livestock care is a definite plus!
- You’ll need a strong work ethic and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Truck driving experience is strongly preferred (CDL not required).
- Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment maintenance will add to your success.
