Hand Compositor/Typesetters sets type by hand and machine. Assembles type and cuts in galley for printing articles, headings, and other printed matter. Being a Hand Compositor/Typesetters determines type size, style, and compositional pattern from work order. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Hand Compositor/Typesetters may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. COMPANY DESCRIPTION: We are a small, family farm focused on the greater good and working in tune with nature. We specialize in truly pasture raised hens for eggs. We also raise slow grow broilers and a small herd grass fed cattle.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Duration: Full-time,Part-time, seasonal (willing to work with odd schedules)
Hours: Ideally someone who would work 30-35 hrs a week, or at least 2 days a week.
Main duties: washing eggs alone or with our team, collecting eggs from our mobile chicken coop, maintaining a clean egg wash room (powerwashing, washing flats, etc.)
Secondary duties: (on days our farm manager is busy or needs assistance) Feeding chickens, moving cows, moving coops, helping on projects around the farm, weed wacking, helping on butcher days (if interested).
Opportunities include doing one of our two markets in philly (thursday or sunday), assist in deliveries or pickups, learn how to work with and manage cattle. We have a lot of different projects going on so if you feel drawn to something specific we will teach you!
Ideal candidate: willing to learn, excited about working on a small crew or alone, flexible in what each day brings, critical thinking skills, passionate about regenerative agriculture!
Experience working on a farm is not nessecary, as long as you are willing to learn!
If you have tractor driving experience thats a plus but again not nessecary.
Compensation: $15/hr, half hour paid lunch, all the eggs you could eat.
