  • Position Summary – ­The Superintendent is responsible for managing all project related activities at the job site.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Works directly with the assigned Project Manager to deliver contracted scope commitment on time and on budget.
    • Communicates the needs of the project to all parties involved.
    • Manges his team of labor and field supervisor(s) so as to meet production installation rate and costs allocated.
    • Works as a field labor ambassador to the preconstruction team to help provide guidance related to but not limited to the execution and costs pertaining to a project before it has been contracted.
    • Works independently to seek out problems before they happen while maintaining a high level of communication between all parties involved.
    • Works with all members of the self-perform team to confirm materials and subcontracts are executed properly and materials and or labor is delivered properly and on time.
    • Is the field conduit for PSS/KYA/TLS attending department and client project meetings as needed either on site or remotely.
    • Visits the job site to prepare for execution and pave the way for materials and labor.
    • Manages the needs of multiple projects at one time.
    • Builds and solidifies a professional working relationship with all parties involved in the project with the intention of building the KYA brands. 
    • Learns and understand the technical side of products and the installation process and problems.
    • Seeks to find alternative subcontracted vendors that offer superior services.
    • Understands and ensures that the labor compliance rules are followed.
    • Familiarizes and complies with Project Labor Agreements and any other labor related requirements.
    • Has a broad view and understanding of like performing products so alternatives can be suggested.
    • Builds relationships with vendors & subcontractors to ensure most aggressive pricing, service and quality.
    • Understands warranty strengths and limitations for products.
    • Maintains pulse on every project being mindful of rogue spending ie. spending on materials not accounted for in original estimate.
    • Works to build the trust of Sales, Estimating and Project Mangers by ensuring proper communication and follow through.
    • Brings ideas and solutions to department to improve the process, accuracy thereby increasing profitability.
    • To ensure future success and project improvement, the Superintendent is part of the project closure team to review and dissect how a completed project faired.

    Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

    Education/Experience: High School Graduate and at least 10 years of related construction experience.

    Language Ability: Ability to read and understand architectural plans. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contracts, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.  Must be able to navigate any Spanish language communication issue with labor.

    Math Ability: Calculate figures and amounts such as, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to collect and organize information. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to present solutions to said problems. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions related to the building trades.

    Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office programs and Google programs including but not limited to MS office, Excel, and G-Mail. Must have the aptitude to learn and perform functions in our system, SAGE and navigate other programs like Smartsheet and Job Tracker. Must be able to understand and navigate through client supplied programs such as PROCORE and BIM360. Must possess the desire to learn new systems as they are introduced into the department / company.

    Certificates and Licenses: No certifications required

    Work Environment: This position is primary based in the field however, there will be visits to our office, warehouse, a vendors site, or a manufacturing facility. This position will be subject to inherent dangers associated with a construction job site.     Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel.  The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee will be required to frequently drive long distances. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for up to 12 hours per day.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
