You and your colleagues will design, develop, assemble, test, troubleshoot, and deliver hardware components as a critical part of end-to-end IoT Solutions, from NTI to NPD to Sustaining.     This is a hybrid position with both work-from-home/in-office work based out of our ThingsLab in Indianapolis, IN (specifically Carmel), reporting director to Director of Things Engineering.

    Job Responsibilities

    Component Assembly: Assemble electronic components and devices following technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions

    Testing and Inspection: Conduct tests and inspections on electronic products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications

    Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues with electronic components and devices, diagnosing and resolving technical problems

    Calibration: Calibrate electronic equipment and instruments to maintain accuracy and reliability

    Documentation: Maintain detailed records of assembly processes, test results, and equipment calibration

    Inventory Management: Monitor and manage electronic components and materials inventory, ensuring availability for production

    Safety: Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment

    Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and other team members to improve product quality and resolve technical issues

    Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on lab equipment to ensure proper functionality



    Requirements

    Associate’s degree in electronics or a related field; Bachelor’s degree is a plus

    Proven experience as an Electronics Lab Technician or a similar role

    Strong knowledge of electronic components, circuitry, and assembly techniques

    Proficiency in using electronic testing equipment and tools

    Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics

    Attention to detail and precision in assembly and testing processes

    Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

    Effective communication and teamwork abilities

    Knowledge of safety protocols and practices in a laboratory setting

    Other Requirements

    Certification in electronics or a related field

    Previous experience in a manufacturing or electronics assembly environment

    Familiarity with quality control processes

    Must be willing to travel locally, to support small-batch product builds

    x to lift and carry moderately heavy equipment and components

    Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for precise assembly and test tasks

    Enthusiasm and energy for all things electronics and mechanical in the IoT and Lab space

    Interesting Capabilities

    Engineering process and change management experience – ECN, BOM, RFQ, etc.

    PCB Design knowledge and/or experience – DfX, EMC, etc.

    IPC Standards knowledge

    Specific PCB test experiences – High-Heat-Humidity, ESD, Environmental, FCC, etc.
