for an experienced – Sr.
Hardware Design Engineer
We are searching for an
experienced analog design engineer who will be working with a multi-disciplinary
extended team of engineers responsible for the design and verification of
various test vehicles, process boards and optical transceiver drive/receive
circuits integral to the functionality of EFFECT’s family of optical technology
products. This will require experience in the areas of low noise analog front
end circuitry, low noise/low power signal distribution and other analog
sub-systems. The successful candidate will drive the definition of the
functional architecture, perform detailed schematic design/simulation and
product verification of complex electronic board level systems. The candidate
will be comfortable working within a disciplined engineering organization,
generating and maintaining proper engineering documentation. This is an on-site role based in Maynard, Massachusetts.
Role responsibilities:
• Generate design documentation, perform schematic capture, work with board layout engineers, perform lab measurements and verify leading-edge design concepts.
• Research and enable innovative solutions for cutting-edge designs.
• Engage other electrical hardware engineers and development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for high-complexity products.
• Innovatively solve issues, drive completion of the project to schedule, and collaboratively work with other technical contributors. You will be owning all aspects of assigned areas, including verification.
• Collaborate and communicate with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
About you

Required / Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• BS / MS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4 years of experience as an analog design engineer.
• Excellent knowledge and technical understanding of both digital and analog circuit design.
• High speed design board skills.
• Proven technical execution skills and experienced in delivering quality designs on time.
• Extensive design experience with PCA design tools like Altium and Allegro.
• Working knowledge of high-speed design, signal integrity issues and power distribution techniques.
• Experience with serial communications protocols (I2C, SPI).
• Experience using common test equipment (oscilloscopes, signal analyzers).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
It would be of benefit if you also have:
• Knowledge of and experience with optical communications systems and optical transceiver modules a plus.
• Familiarity with embedded software and its relation to analog hardware control.
• Experience leading small hardware design teams.
