Project Canary is a climate technology company that offers an enterprise emissions data platform that helps companies identify, measure, understand, and act to reduce emissions across the energy value chain. Our mission is to “Measure It” – leveraging sophisticated software solutions to help companies improve and report on their emissions footprint. We do this by building high-fidelity sensors, ingesting data from various other technologies and sources, characterizing the accuracy of such emissions data, and deploying advanced physics-based AI-powered models to identify leaks and quantify emissions.

The Director of Hardware Engineering will be a part of the Hardware team and lead a team of Hardware and Firmware Engineers on current and next generation product development.
Key Responsibilities
• Drive hardware device architecture and roadmap across company. Ensuring hardware meets the needs of executive team, supply chain team, customer success team, field team, product teams and software teams.
• Fully own technology transfer to manufacturing, resolving all manufacturability issues, manufacturing testing development, process development and documentation.
• Drive proof of concept hardware development and develop business and usage cases for next generation technologies.
• Drive the resolution of all customer and field team hardware issues including tracking and monitoring installation and customer issues leading the root cause investigations through the final technology implementation.
• Drive the development of next generation hardware products.
• Lead a multi-functional team of 6 hardware and firmware engineers, ensuring all tasks are identified, executed, and completed
• Responsible for coordinating schedules and ensuring sufficient resources to meet deadlines, while maintaining successful budget execution.
• Personnel and Team Development: Developing and maintaining a team who are able to Develop, Integrate, and Verify Requirements
• Providing clear communication to both internal and external team members as well as executive management
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field required; MBA or other Master’s degree is preferred but not required
• 7 years' experience in hardware engineering
• 4 years experience in PCB layout
• 5 years' experience managing a team
• Experience working with IoT devices
• Experience working with firmware engineering teams, firmware engineering experience preferred - MAJOR PLUS
• Extensive knowledge of board-level electronics and electrical systems
• Demonstrated systems engineering full lifecycle experience
• Strong team collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated experience as both a technical leader and individual contributor in systems integration (player coach)
• Strong project management skills, certification(s) preferred but not required
• Excellent technical writing, forecasting, and budgeting skills
