Hardware Engineering Manager plans and directs all aspects of hardware engineering activities within an organization. Ensures all hardware engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization's established polices and objectives. Additionally, Hardware Engineering Manager typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Hardware Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Vertiv is seeking a Manager, Engineering - Hardware to lead Vertiv’s KVM and Serial Core Engineering Hardware team. The team includes groups based in both the United States and India and consists of dedicated US engineers and shared engineers in Pune, India.  The team is responsible for the development and maintenance of hardware products that support the KVM and Serial line of business.  

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead the electronics team, the mechanical team, the configuration control team and the new product introduction team.  
    • Collaborate with  international design teams and will coordinate with external suppliers and consultants as appropriate.  
    • As a part of the KVM and Serial Engineering organization, he / she will be expected to maintain a set of SLAs and KPIs for the team and to report regularly on the team’s progress toward its defined goals.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required.  An advanced engineering degree is an advantage.
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in electronics design, with a strong preference for experience in the design and layout of high-speed microprocessor-based systems.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing multi-disciplinary, engineering organizations, ideally including experience in working with globally distributed teams.  Experience working with teams in India is strongly preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple simultaneous development projects, including both planned development efforts and ongoing product maintenance.
    • A solid understanding of product test design concepts, with an emphasis on design for automated testing.
    • History of successfully developing, releasing, and maintaining commercial and/or industrial electronic products, demonstrating a solid understanding of full product lifecycle management.
    • A solid understanding of electronic design concepts, including processor and memory subsystem structure and interface design, is required.  Experience with analog electronics, wireless systems, environmental sensors, and IoT is preferred. 
    • Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma concepts is required.  Formal DFx training or a Six Sigma Green Belt is advantageous.
    • Self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision and in a timely manner.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English.
    • Willingness to travel as needed, both domestically and internationally.  Travel commitments of up to 10% of business days may be required.
