    ATHLETIC TRAINER

    The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Athletic Trainer

    DEFINITION: The Athletic Trainer provides for the prevention, care, and reconditioning of injuries incurred in the interscholastic athletic program.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
    2. New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate for School Athletic Trainer.
    3. Must be certified as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainer's Association Bureau of Certification
    4. Must be registered by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners as an Athletic Trainer
    5. Must hold and maintain CPR/AED certification
    6. Show evidence of successful experience in working with student athletes

    BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Attendance at scheduled practices, Home interscholastic contests, and Away varsity football games.
    2. Administers First Aid to injured students involved in all interscholastic athletic programs.
    3. Applies protective or injury preventative devices such as adhesive strapping, taping, bandaging, padding, brace, etc.
    4. Works cooperatively with the team physician and under his/her directions regarding reconditioning injured athletes and physician/hospital referrals.
    5. Records all injuries/treatments and maintains files of each athlete.
    6. Handles all interscholastic medical insurance claims.
    7. Supplies fully equipped First Aid kits for each team.
    8. Works cooperatively with all coaches in selecting protective equipment.
    9. Supervises and maintains the training room.
    10. Prepares an annual budget for supplies and equipment.
    11. Maintains an inventory of all First Aid supplies.
    12. Supervises student assistants.
    13. Counsels and advises athletes and coaches on conditioning and training techniques for their respective school.
    14. Reports all serious injuries to the principal, school nurse, coach, and athletic director.
    15. Reports all injuries to the school nurse and athletic director on a daily basis.
    16. Provides in-service training program for interested staff members on injury prevention and safety at least (2) times per year.
    17. Does other related duties as may be assigned by the athletic director/principal.

    SALARY EMPLOYMENT PERIOD, AND UNION AFFILIATION
    1. Salary Range: $55,000-$103,091
    2. Employment Period: Ten (10) Month
    3. Union Affiliation: NTU
