Head Cataloging Librarian develops cataloging policies and procedures and implements improvement. Manages staff and student assistants in all formats cataloging following updated workflows. Being a Head Cataloging Librarian creates metadata schema to ensure efficient workflow for metadata projects. Typically requires a master's degree. Additionally, Head Cataloging Librarian typically reports to top management. The Head Cataloging Librarian manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. TYPICAL DUTIES:
The Seabrook Library seeks a friendly, customer service-oriented person to work full-time in our Children’s Department. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
· Assists with the planning and implementation of all programs for children ages 0-12.
· Assists with the selection of materials.
· Responsible for organization and display of children’s materials; maintains room displays and decorations.
· Assists with publicity of children’s programs and materials in print, on social media, and the library website.
· Performs the full range of circulation desk procedures including accurately checking out and checking in materials, taking reserves and requests from patrons, issuing borrower cards and
helping patrons locate materials.
· Assures accurate shelving of books, periodicals, and other library materials.
· Performs related work as required, including ordering materials and supplies.
· Performs or assigns other duties as assigned by the Director.
This full-time position will require one night per week, one Saturday in a rotation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have proficient computer skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, possess a friendly, professional demeanor, and enjoy working with children and patrons of all ages, with a commitment to great customer service. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skill, and abilities.
