Head Cataloging Librarian develops cataloging policies and procedures and implements improvement. Manages staff and student assistants in all formats cataloging following updated workflows. Being a Head Cataloging Librarian creates metadata schema to ensure efficient workflow for metadata projects. Typically requires a master's degree. Additionally, Head Cataloging Librarian typically reports to top management. The Head Cataloging Librarian manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Cataloging Librarian typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Title
    Librarian in Residence

    Job Description
    This position is part of the Adrian Alexander Librarian in Residence Program. This is a one-year appointment for 25 hours per week. This position is responsible for the coordination and management of the Federal Depository Library Program at McFarlin Library and reports to the Director of Bibliographic Services.
    CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES:
    • Completion of the Federal Depository Library Program Coordinator Certificate Program, if not already completed
    • Revision and maintenance of the library’s print collection
    • Oversee an extensive reconfiguration of the library’s FDLP holdings
    • Collaborate with regional and national FDLP coordinators
    • Insure compliance with all rules and regulations for participation in the Federal Depository Library Program
    • Oversee the conversion of the collection of a digital format

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master’s degree in Library Science or Library & Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program or within one year of completion of such a program.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work with staff, faculty, students, community patrons, and other libraries
    • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills

    Required Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working in the Federal Depository Library Program, performing collection management, cataloging in the SuDoc classification scheme, and compliance
    • Completion of the FDLP Coordinator Certificate Program
    • Experience using Innovative Interfaces Sierra LSP and OCLC WorldShare Management Services LSP

    Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
