Head Coach (Major Sport) oversees all activities of a major athletic team. Plans and directs training of student athletes, and assesses individuals' abilities and skill level to determine appropriate team position. Being a Head Coach (Major Sport) analyzing opposition team performance and capabilities and determines game strategy. Assists players in reaching highest athletic potential possible through athletic training and leadership skills. Additionally, Head Coach (Major Sport) must be familiar with NCAA rules and regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in the related area. Typically reports to a institutional officer. Head Coach (Major Sport) is a specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. JOB SUMMARY
Provides instruction and works with athletes to prepare them for competitions. Head Coach helps student athletes to play their best individually and as a team. Head coach participate in team events and may supervise practice sessions.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE- High School or Equivalent
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS
- Florida Athletic Coaching Certificate or Florida Educator's Certificate.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must have a completed and approved employment application
***This position may require you to teach an additional period beyond your base contract. Should this occur, you will receive additional compensation at the effective negotiated rate (currently $5500 for a full-year) in addition to your base salary for instructing this additional period. This additional amount will be paid as a supplement and will be disbursed in equal payments based on the District’s established payroll calendar for this position. This amount is considered part of your salary for Florida Retirement System purposes.***
