Head Coach (Minor Sport) oversees all activities of a minor athletic team. Plans and directs training of student athletes, and assesses individuals' abilities and skill level to determine appropriate team position. Being a Head Coach (Minor Sport) analyzes opposition team performance and capabilities and determines game strategy. Assists players in reaching highest athletic potential possible through athletic training and leadership skills. Additionally, Head Coach (Minor Sport) must be familiar with NCAA rules and regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in the related area. Typically reports to a institutional officer. Head Coach (Minor Sport) is a specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. The head coach is responsible for all aspects of the men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs, including, but not limited to: recruitment of qualified student athletes, practice planning and organization, monitoring academic progress of student-athletes, fundraising, budgeting, scheduling, supervising assistant coaches, administrative duties and compliance with all Simpson and NAIA rules and regulations.
