    Job Summary

    The Head Coach, Men’s Basketball is responsible for leading all phases of the program in accordance with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I, Big West Conference, and University rules, regulations, and policies.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Evaluate, recruit, train, and coach student-athletes to compete successfully against major college competition in a quality Men's Basketball program.
    • Monitor student-athlete academic progress by meeting regularly with the sports academic counselor to ensure the academic success of team members.
    • Develop and oversee a competitive schedule, including organizing and supervising all practices and competitions.
    • Implement strategies for developing and motivating student-athletes to perform at maximum levels.
    • Prepare and manage the annual operating budget for the team.
    • Hire and supervise assistant coaches and staff.
    • Play a leadership role in fundraising for the program, department, and University. Participate in community fundraising efforts and represent the university at speaking engagements.

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Collegiate coaching or equivalent experience in Men's or Women’s Basketball. Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse population.

    Heavy work - Job involves lifting more than 40 pounds. Approximately half of the incumbent's time will be spent walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, or climbing.

    A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position. The selected candidate must pass a fingerprint clearance (Livescan).
