Head Coach (Minor Sport) oversees all activities of a minor athletic team. Plans and directs training of student athletes, and assesses individuals' abilities and skill level to determine appropriate team position. Being a Head Coach (Minor Sport) analyzes opposition team performance and capabilities and determines game strategy. Assists players in reaching highest athletic potential possible through athletic training and leadership skills. Additionally, Head Coach (Minor Sport) must be familiar with NCAA rules and regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in the related area. Typically reports to a institutional officer. Head Coach (Minor Sport) is a specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. ```Duties``
· Lead a team of 130 youth swimmers (ages 5-18)
· Ensure an engaging and positive environment through the planning of creative, fun and challenging practices for swimmers of all ages
· Provide stroke and technique correction in a positive and constructive manner
· Support athletes to understand meet protocol and time management
· Model and support a positive atmosphere among athletes and assistant coaches
· Ensure the safety of athletes during training sessions and competitions
· Manage team dynamics and promote a positive and inclusive team culture
· Collaborate with assistant coaches and other staff members to coordinate team activities
· Provide clear guidance to parents regarding athlete expectations and weekly training plans

- Previous experience coaching and/or swimming competitively
- Availability to coach Saturday meets
- Strong knowledge of all strokes, swimming rules and meet protocol
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to effectively manage behavior and lead others
- Experience working with children or students in a coaching or teaching capacity
