Head Coach (Minor Sport) oversees all activities of a minor athletic team. Plans and directs training of student athletes, and assesses individuals' abilities and skill level to determine appropriate team position. Being a Head Coach (Minor Sport) analyzes opposition team performance and capabilities and determines game strategy. Assists players in reaching highest athletic potential possible through athletic training and leadership skills. Additionally, Head Coach (Minor Sport) must be familiar with NCAA rules and regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in the related area. Typically reports to a institutional officer. Head Coach Stipend: $4770.00
Duties:
- Develop and implement effective training programs to improve players' skills and performance
- Plan and organize practice sessions, including drills, conditioning exercises, and game strategies
- Provide guidance and instruction to players on proper techniques, rules, and strategies of volleyball
- Evaluate players' strengths and weaknesses to create individualized training plans
- Coordinate and schedule games, tournaments, and scrimmages with other teams
- Foster a positive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth
- Monitor player progress and provide feedback for improvement
- Ensure the safety of players during practices and games
Qualifications:
- Previous experience coaching volleyball or playing at a competitive level
- Knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to motivate and inspire players to reach their full potential
- Strong organizational skills to plan practices, games, and team events
- CPR/AED certification (preferred)
- Background in physical education or related field (preferred)
- Experience working with students or children in a coaching or educational setting
