Head Nurse - CCU directs nursing service activities for assigned critical/coronary care unit patients. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and critical care unit staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of critical care unit patient clinical records, and writes reports on critical care unit staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - CCU maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - CCU typically requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - CCU manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - CCU typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. - Maintain a commitment to professional growth and development by participation in mandatory annual in-services, certification, Lakeland Regional Health System committees, and educational programs for improvement of self to maintain competency. Maintain a commitment to the achievement of quality health care services by maintaining patient rights, safety, privacy, confidentiality, and the "customer relations" philosophy.
- Participate in the economical utilization of supplies, equipment, and resources.
- Establish and maintain open and positive communications in all aspects of job performance.
- Execute professional nursing judgment in delivery of quality patient care.
- Maintain the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of Lakeland Regional Health System and the nursing department with high quality and in a timely manner.
Qualifications- Required Associate's Degree Nursing
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree Nursing within 5 years
- LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
- CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association CCU/ICU, Cardiac Progressive Care, ER & Chest Pain Unit, Heart Center, House Supervision, Endo, Pre-op, PACU 1 Year required
- CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association Labor and Delivery 1 Year preferred
- CRT-NIH Stroke Certification - NIHSS National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Ortho/Neuro St Joseph, CCU/ICU St Joseph and Niles, Cardiac Progressive Care, A3 Medical Telemetry Niles, ER and Chest Pain Unit, Heart Center & House Supervision 90 Days required
