Head Nurse - CCU directs nursing service activities for assigned critical/coronary care unit patients. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and critical care unit staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of critical care unit patient clinical records, and writes reports on critical care unit staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - CCU maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - CCU typically requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - CCU manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - CCU typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Minimum Qualifications:

    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
    • Currently licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut
    • Possess the knowledge and skills necessary to assess health needs of patients and to perform nursing care in a safe, caring manner

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • One year of acute care nursing experience (step down or ICU preferred)
    • Telemetry experience
    • BSN or ADN/ASN and actively enrolled in a BSN program
    • Certification in PCCN or CCRN encouraged
    • Epic experience
    • ACLS (will be required upon completion of orientation)
