The Emergency Department Registered Nurse Manger is the designated leader for the Emergency Department. They are responsible for the patient population and assigned staff. The RN Manager plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the unit activities. The RN Manager provides direction, support and guidance to the assistant nurse managers (if applicable), other nurses and techs in their development both clinically and professionally. Twenty-four-hour accountability to their unit, the patients they serve, and to MUSC Health Catawba Division as clinical and business leaders.
Experience: Two years of hospital experience is preferred but not required. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, to sit for extended periods, to visually interpret telephone and computer terminals, to move between work areas; to handle stress of high telephone call volume and computer data entry, to work independently and alone. Must have initiative, good judgment, resilience, patience, discretion, perseverance and enthusiasm.
Additional Job Description
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with an Associates degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
License/Certification: Current South Carolina Nursing license or Compact State from the State Board of Nursing. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) certification, Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) with American Heart Association (AHA), and NIHSS stroke scale with American Heart Association (AHA) required.
