Head Nurse - Industrial directs nursing service activities in an industrial setting. Provides care to patients with emergency industrial accidents and surgery outpatients. Being a Head Nurse - Industrial plans and conducts training programs to promote employee health and safety in the workplace. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and industrial staff nurses. Additionally, Head Nurse - Industrial maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Industrial manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Industrial typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Industrial Nurse - 1st Shift

  • Bachoco OK Foods is seeking an Industrial Nurse for our Heavener, OK location.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (6am - 2pm)

    Summary: Be available in the Nurse's Station to attend to and follow up on occupational injuries and illnesses and provide emergency medical assistance as needed. Provides preventive treatment as needed to plant workers.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    • Provides immediate medical attention for any serious injuries.
    • Provides medical attention for minor injuries
    • Provides preventive treatment such as wrapping wrists, paraffin wax treatments, etc.
    • Performs post-employment physicals.
    • Follows-up on light duty personnel to ensure that doctor's orders are being followed.
    • Initiates accident reports and forwards to the proper personnel.
    • Fills out paperwork and reports as needed. Files paperwork as needed or directed.
    • Performs non-DOT drug and alcohol testing following Company policy.
    • Assists the Safety Department during the annual hearing testing and in the follow up to the testing.
    • Documents all medical procedures in the Nurse's notes.
    • Monitors AED status; performs periodic tests and reports results to Nursing Supervisor.
    • Inventories and/or orders supplies as assigned.
    • Opens band-aids as needed.
    • Keeps Nurse's Station clean and neat.
    • Helps enforce food safety measures such as SQF including GMPs.
    • Maintains an excellent attendance record. Notifies the Nurse Supervisor as soon as possible of any absences. Checks with other facility Nurses to fill in for absences.
    • On call as needed. Call schedule is a rotation of one full week of on-call between other staff nurses at your assigned location.  Must be prepared to come in on call when there is no nurse on duty or any shifts are being covered by a temp nurse, or as needed. 
    • When on call: answers phone, stays within one hour's travel of the assigned Nurse's Station, and responds when called.
    • Working on weekends or other normally unscheduled hours may be mandatory if staffing cannot be provided through temporary agencies or other O.K. Nurses. 
    • Relieves security guards for breaks, unless providing immediate medical care. Verifies only authorized employees enter the facility. Fills out information for trucks entering and leaving the facility. Notifies applicable personnel when vendors enter the facility.
    • Must submit to and pass a background investigation. 
    • Performs other duties as required.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensed as an LPN, EMT or other designation as deemed sufficient by the Medical Director.

    Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Human Resource systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: LPN, EMT or other as designated by the Medical Director.  Must have a valid driver's license.

    Other Skills and Abilities: Must be able to communicate with the Medical Director's staff, temporary staffing agencies, OK Management and OK Employees.
