Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and intensive care unit staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of intensive care unit patient clinical records. Being a Head Nurse - Intensive Care Unit manages inventory of solutions, supplies, medicines, narcotics, and equipment according to hospital policies, procedures and regulations. Evaluates intensive care unit staff performance and quality of service. Additionally, Head Nurse - Intensive Care Unit coaches and develops nursing staff. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Intensive Care Unit manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. We are looking for a reliable Charge Nurses to care for geriatric patient population in a professional and considerate manner. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse Supervisor. The ideal candidate will be experienced in Long term care setting and in providing diverse basic care to those who need it.
Responsibilities
· Record patient’s medical history
· Administration of medications and treatments
· Observe patients under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc.
· Monitor patients’ condition including fluid intake and output and compose patient charts
· Administer injections, prescribed medications, enemas etc., clean and dress wounds and assist with other basic medical care tasks
· Collect samples for lab testing
· Oversight of assigned staff members on your unit
· Provide emotional support when needed
· Communicate with patients’ family or friends to provide comfort and release instructions
· Good knowledge of PCC desired but not required
