Head Nurse - Intensive Care Unit directs nursing service activities for assigned intensive care unit patients. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and intensive care unit staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of intensive care unit patient clinical records. Being a Head Nurse - Intensive Care Unit manages inventory of solutions, supplies, medicines, narcotics, and equipment according to hospital policies, procedures and regulations. Evaluates intensive care unit staff performance and quality of service. Additionally, Head Nurse - Intensive Care Unit coaches and develops nursing staff. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Intensive Care Unit manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.     As a Registered Nurse in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU), you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional healthcare to critically ill patients. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and specialized care. Your primary responsibilities will include:

    Night Shift 7p-7:30a

    Unit Details:

    10 bed Critical Care unit. RN:PT Ratio is 1:2. Charting: Allscripts/Paragon/Mckesson. PEDS cases may come in but rare. We use 2 Servo vents and the rest are LTVs at this time. We have vapotherm and V60 bipaps. We schedule a minimum of 3 nurses per shift our shifts for RNs are 7a-7p and 7p-7a.Vents, Drips, management of arterial lines, central lines, codes

    Key Responsibilities:

    Patient Assessment: Perform thorough and ongoing assessments of patients' conditions, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assessing the need for interventions.

    Critical Care: Provide specialized care to critically ill patients, including those with complex medical conditions, post-surgical recovery, and trauma-related injuries.

    Ventilator Management: Monitor and manage patients on mechanical ventilation, ensuring proper settings and patient comfort.

    Medication Administration: Administer medications, fluids, and blood products as prescribed, and monitor patient responses while maintaining accurate records.

    Collaborative Care: Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.

    Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies, including code blue situations, and provide immediate life-saving interventions.

    Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment options, and post-discharge care.

    Equipment Operation: Competently operate and troubleshoot complex medical equipment used in the ICU.

    Infection Control: Strictly adhere to infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sterile environment.

    Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including assessments, interventions, and progress notes.

    Compliance: Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

    Qualifications:

    Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in state of practice.

    BLS and ACLS certifications are required. Additional certifications such as CCRN or TNCC are a plus.

    Previous ICU nursing experience is preferred, but new graduates with a strong interest in critical care may be considered.

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to remain calm and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
