Head Nurse plans and implements the overall nursing policies, procedures, and services for a unit. Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training clinical staff. Being a Head Nurse ensures that nurses are current in competencies, assessments, licensure, certifications, and other annual training. May provide direct patient care and is responsible for assessing, planning, and evaluating patients. Additionally, Head Nurse requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The LPN, under the direction of the Registered Nurse, performs selected nursing care for the sub-acute, convalescent and chronic client.

    May assist the client in learning self-care techniques. Will complete appropriate clinical and progress notes.

    The Licensed Practical Nurse supports and fosters the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the agency.

    Reports to: Supervisor Clinical Services

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program.
    • Current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Connecticut.
    • Minimum of one (1) year clinical experience in a healthcare setting
    • Ability to respond to needs of patients and families in varied settings.
    • Ability to make meaningful observations and write comprehensive accurate reports.
    • Proof of satisfactory completion of a medication course.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    Home visits to patients to include, weekends and holidays and consistent with agency policies and practices.

    Sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting.

    Potential exposure to blood and body fluids.

    High-stress environment related to dealing with patient illness.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
