Head Nurse plans and implements the overall nursing policies, procedures, and services for a unit. Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training clinical staff. Being a Head Nurse ensures that nurses are current in competencies, assessments, licensure, certifications, and other annual training. May provide direct patient care and is responsible for assessing, planning, and evaluating patients. Additionally, Head Nurse requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Minimum Qualifications: Hiring subject to applicable URJ and Pennsylvania State background checks.
Calm under pressure with a proven track record of excellent organizational and communications skills; comfort in managing multiple projects with and for multiple stakeholders. Comfort with and ability to learn new technology. Prior experience working with elementary and middle school-age children in a formal or informal setting. Supervisory experience is preferred. Must be a registered nurse or LPN licensed in the State of Pennsylvania or able to obtain PA license, be able to demonstrate flexibility, manage multiple responsibilities at once, and work as part of a team. Residential positions prioritized; open to local commuter positions. Love and/or respect for The Arts and a diverse community is a must.
