    Position Summary

    The RN position will provide quality care to the residents of McLean County Nursing Home. RNs administer medications, oversee treatments, and ensure compliance with prescribed therapies. RNs keep accurate, detailed records of treatments and medications, assess and record patients’ vital signs and other information about their condition. RNs oversee routine care by CNAs and other support personnel while coordinating with physicians and other health care team members.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for nursing care of assigned residents
    • Supervise resident-care personnel on his/her shift
    • Prepare and administer medications and treatments
    • Order medications per physician’s orders
    • Chart medications and treatment in EMR
    • Supervise serving of diets and fluid intake
    • Ensure rehabilitative nursing procedures are performed
    • Participate in staff meetings
    • Assist in interpreting goals and objectives of facility for nursing service personnel
    • Administer parenteral, intramuscular, and sub-cutaneous injections and IV therapy
    • Ensure individual Resident Assessment and Comprehensive Care Plan is followed
    • Transcribe physician’s orders; receive or place calls to physician
    • Other duties as assigned by Director of Nursing or Nursing Home Administrator

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Working knowledge of nursing services, rehabilitation, therapy, and resident care
    • Possess skills for continuous handling, fingering and feeling required for palpation, operating and maintaining equipment, and providing medical treatments for abnormal conditions, ie: wound care, resident care, and medication administration
    • Possess skills to continuously comprehend and communicate with residents and co-workers, to follow written plans of care, and to respond to emergency alarms
    • Concentrate on moderate and/or fine detail with frequent interruptions necessary to perform a variety of tasks
    • Ability to remember multiple messages, information, and task assignments given to self and others
    • Ability to communicate and collaborate with others and work as a team

    Required Qualifications

    • Current, active license as a registered nurse in Illinois
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior experience as a RN in a long-term care facility

    Physical Requirements

    • Occasionally transfers up to 75 pounds with assist while lifting and positioning and transferring residents
    • Pushes/pulls medication carts requiring force of 10-30 pounds
    • Pushes/pulls residents weighing 75-300 pounds in wheelchairs
    • Reposition residents weighing 75-300 pounds in bed for treatments and nursing procedures as needed
    • Stands and walks up to 75% of shift to provide resident assessments
    • Stoops, bends, and squats as required to reach lower drawers on medication carts, adjust residents items, etc.
    • Able to wear gloves and other PPE
    • Identifies residents, call lights, and unusual occurrences on unit at at distance of 50 feet
