Head Nurse - Obstetrics directs nursing service activities for assigned patients in the delivery room and birthing units. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and obstetrics staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of obstetrics patient clinical records, and writes reports on obstetrics room staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Obstetrics maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - Obstetrics requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Obstetrics manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Work Hours
This position is 37 hours per week. Generally Monday through Friday, Day Shift.
Job Summary
Reports to Early Head Start Coordinator. Responsible for implementing the Early Head Start program in compliance with all rules, regulations and performance standards. This is a Home Visiting position working with pregnant woman, children birth to 3 years of age. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Must have valid drivers license and automobile available for work. Eligible for mileage reimbursement.

Qualifications
Minimum of a home-based CDA credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate’s degree; and a minimum of a credential or ertification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or related field.
One year of relevant work experience and background in early childhood preferred
Job Description
· If needing to obtain CDA, must be done within one year of hire.
· Responsible for outreach and recruitment of families for Early Head Start. Implement comprehensive child development program while embracing the role of the parent as the primary educator of the child, and promote and support attachment between parent and child.
· Responsible for implementing all Early Head Start program areas pursuant to agency wide plan for each child and family; provide weekly home visits of at least 1.5 hours for 12 children.
· Maintain accurate records of services rendered including, but not limited to, weekly home visit plans and evaluations, volunteer records, social service reports, family needs assessments and development assessments.
· Observe children in an ongoing manner, documenting those observations. Communicate any concerns immediately to the Director of Program Operations/Early Head Start Director for advice, counsel and any direction(s).
