Summary: The Head Lifeguard at Daland Swim School leads our Red Cross Lifeguard Certification classes. They teach procedures on how to rescue and revive those that are experiencing a drowning, accident or medical emergency. The Head LG is responsible for coordinating classes, evaluating the performance of the students, and ensuring equipment is maintained.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Teaches a minimum of 2 Basic Lifeguarding Certification classes per month.
• Agrees to be observed and evaluated each year.
• Schedules CPR/First Aid courses and ensures proper equipment and room is ready for class.
• Acquires sufficient background information and comprehension of Basic Life Support subject matter; develops effective teaching methods and presentation skills; and, understands the use and availability of teaching aids.
• Obtains and maintains current certifications in areas of instruction.
• Begins and ends classes on time.
• Has room reserved and set up with equipment, books, and all required material ready for the students’ arrival.
• Maintains inventory of all supplies, to include but not limited to certification cards, manikin supplies, rosters, and test/answer sheets. Notifies Aquatics Coordinator when supplies need to be replenished.
• Cleans mannequin and equipment following American Red Cross (ARC) guidelines. Puts away all equipment and leaves the room clean and tidy.
• Keeps current on new information and/or updates about CPR/First Aid as it become available.
• Has an instructor manual and all supporting materials on hand when teaching.
• Ensures that participants meet course completion requirements and receive completion certificate.
• Submits completed course reports to Executive Director.
• Attends regular trainings as assigned by Executive Director.
• Maintains an excellent attendance record.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED. Experience as a certified lifeguard and/or youth swim instructor is required.

Certificates and Licenses: CPR/First Aid certification required. We provide all needed training and offer the required certifications at our facility.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
