Head Nurse - Occupational Health directs nursing service activities for occupational health services. Develops and conducts training programs to promote employee safety in the workplace. Being a Head Nurse - Occupational Health conducts regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify any health or safety hazards. Maintains records, investigates accidents and injuries, prepares appropriate reports for OSHA, and ensures compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations. Additionally, Head Nurse - Occupational Health coordinates the procurement, review, and project management of contracts and service agreements with outside vendors. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Occupational Health manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Occupational Health typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Compensation: $28.60-37.21/hourly rate (plus $0.50/hour for bilingual Spanish), Exempt

    Hours: Regular full-time (40 hours/week)

    Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    As a member of the Head Start Management Team the Health Services Manager has primary responsibility to manage child health, child health and safety, child nutrition, and ERSEA of the Head Start program. This includes overseeing the planning, coordination, and monitoring of food services and ERSEA components. This position is directly responsible for planning, developing, implementing, budgeting, monitoring, staff and parent training/consultation, and developing community partnerships for the child health, child health and safety and child nutrition components. This position also ensures that site monitoring is completed in all areas of responsibility in order assure program compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Act, Child
    Adult Care Food Program and Child Care Division regulations.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    • COVID-19 vaccine required prior to hire
    • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline/field with college course work in health and/or nutrition (transcripts required).
    • At least two years of professional experience in the area of child health, safety, nutrition and/or.
    • At least one year of supervisory experience.
    • Training and experience in public health, health education, maternal and child health, nursing or health administration (as required by the Head Start Performance Standards).
    • Prior Head Start experience desired.
    • Bilingual English, Spanish desired.
    • Experience working with families living in poverty desired.
    • Head Start parent or past parent preferred.
    • Must be able to ride a school bus with children for assigned periods of time.
    • Must have an initial health examination, and a periodic re-examination (as recommended by health care provider)so as to assure that employees do not because of communicable diseases, pose a significant risk to the health or safety of others, that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation.
    • Prior to date of hire and throughout employment, certification of the following are required:
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Proof of current auto insurance. Must provide current liability insurance.
    • Food Handler’s Card
    • Current enrollment in the OR Child Care Division-Criminal History Registry
    • Within 60 days of hire, Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification is required.
    • Above certifications must be kept current to remain employed.
    • Access to reliable transportation required.
