Head Nurse - Psychiatric Unit jobs in Charlotte, NC

Head Nurse - Psychiatric Unit directs nursing service activities for assigned patients in the psychiatric unit. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and psychiatric staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of psychiatric patient clinical records, and writes reports on psychiatric staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Psychiatric Unit maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - Psychiatric Unit requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Psychiatric Unit manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Psychiatric Unit typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER POSITION SUMMARY

    The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive psychiatric care to a diverse patient population. This role requires a compassionate, resilient, and highly skilled professional who can navigate unique challenges to deliver exceptional mental health support. They will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, medical doctors, and correctional staff, to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the complex mental health needs of the patient population.


    PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Provides consultations and assessments to manage and stabilize emergent problems.
    • Provides consultation and follow-up to behavioral health staff to ascertain the need for psychotropic medication.
    • Reviews treatment plans for patients housed on behavioral health observation units and patients receiving medication.
    • Participates in case conferences and treatment planning for patients receiving and being considered for
    • behavioral health treatment.
    • Provides behavioral health evaluations, assessments, and follow-up care.
    • Participates in collaborative consultation with behavioral health staff regarding patient diagnosis and treatment.
    • Participates in various treatment modalities as required by the behavioral health service.
    • Participates in behavioral health and medical rounds as assigned.
    • Assigns tasks to team members as needed.
    • Conducts group sessions on behavioral health observation units including medication compliance groups.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervising Psychiatrist.
    • Maintains all required credentials including CPR certification.
    • Attends training and meetings as required.

    PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner in the State of employment.
    • Must demonstrate clinical competence and leadership abilities such as decision-making, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Minimum one year of clinical nursing practice in a behavioral health setting, correctional experience is preferred.
