Head Nurse - Psychiatric Unit directs nursing service activities for assigned patients in the psychiatric unit. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and psychiatric staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of psychiatric patient clinical records, and writes reports on psychiatric staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Psychiatric Unit maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - Psychiatric Unit requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Psychiatric Unit manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Psychiatric Unit typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
     
     
    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
    The Center for Children and Families Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is defined as treatment provided in the home and/or community to children and youth with serious emotional disturbance from birth up to the age of twenty-one years (21). Services are time-limited, intensive intervention intended to diffuse a crisis, evaluate its nature, and intervene to reduce the likelihood of a recurrence. The ultimate goal is to stabilize the living arrangement, promote reunification, and/or prevent the over-utilization of out-of-home therapeutic resources. The Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is supervised by the MYPAC Supervisor. 
     
    This a part-time independent contracting position (i.e. 1099). $125/hour.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    The Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner should have the following skills and experience:
    Must hold appropriate Mississippi Board Licensure as a Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
    Willingness to provide hands-on concrete services in place for twenty-four (24) hour, seven (7) days a week availability and response (inclusive of crisis response services).
    Must have respect for cultural differences and families' rights to self-determination.
    Must be able to assess situations quickly and have sufficient ingenuity to cope with limited resources.
    Ability to work well in a team setting.
    The ability to adjust to various types of tasks and work cooperatively with different types of personalities.
    Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
    High standard of personal integrity and work ethic.
    Thorough understanding of all treatment and other contract programs and an intimate knowledge of program procedures and policies.
    The ability to build and maintain relationships with outside agencies.
    The ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
    Commitment to The Center for Children and Families and Therapeutic Services Division goals and mission.
     
    ACCOUNTABILITY:
    The Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is hired by the MYPAC Supervisor.  The Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner reports directly to the MYPAC Supervisor who is responsible for his/her performance evaluations.
     
    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Demonstrate an acceptable level of commitment to the Core Values and Mission of The Center for Children and Families.
    Maintain all confidential information.
    Provide assistance to the MYPAC Director/Supervisor and MYPAC team as needed and when requested.
    Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will evaluate and/or diagnose clients as it relates to a mental, behavioral, or 2 emotional disorders of sufficient duration to meet diagnostic criteria for a Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) specified within the current version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). The primary diagnosis must be psychiatric.
    Generate person-centered and individually tailored treatment for each child or youth and family and address the preferences and identified goals of each child/youth and family. 
    Create an Individualized person-centered treatment plan, documentation, and care for children and youth who experience severe and impairing psychiatric symptoms and behavioral disturbances.
    Provide Crisis Intervention Services as needed. 
    Complete all paperwork in a timely manner.  
    Provide assistance and consultation for other staff members as needed and when requested.
    Complete work time sheets weekly.
    Establish and maintain exemplary working relationships with local and regional collaterals and referral sources.
    A psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will advise that the child/youth meets the criteria for a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) level of care. 
    Attend staffing with MYPAC Supervisor and team to review all active cases.
    Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner must be able to respond to crises/emergencies for each child/youth and family served 24 hours per day/7 days per week
    Attend all trainings and meetings as directed by the Clinical Director.
    Other duties assigned by the Clinical Director and MYPAC Supervisor of The Center for Children and Families.
