Sets policies and procedures and ensures all services meet the objectives of the organization. Being a Head of Ancillary Services requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Head of Ancillary Services typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The Health Services Manager must be committed to improving health practices through collaboration with other managers, staff, community members, and students at Head Start. Ideal candidate should be able to use new and existing resources to ensure Head Start performance standards are met. Generally, applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in any field, but preferably in a related field. Applicants near completion of bachelor’s degree may be considered if the bachelor’s degree can be completed within a reasonable period of time after hire.
