East Bay Community Action Programs (EBCAP) Head Start Early Head Start Program is seeking a full-time Director of Head Start Health Services. This full-time/full-year position is located primarily at the Newport RI site. Still, periodic travel to the other five (5) Head Start sites (Tiverton, Riverside (2), Warren, and Middletown) is necessary.
This position manages the functioning of the health component to ensure that the health and safety needs of all children (birth to five), families, and staff in the program are provided for. Compliance is required with Federal and State Standards and Regulations, and with the overall goals, objectives, and mission of the Head Start/Early Head Start Program. The Manager will also provide professional medical consultative services when childcare services are open.
The Director will maintain accurate and complete child health records in Child Plus in compliance with all applicable State and Federal Standards and Regulations via the RI Dept of Health (KIDSNET), which are received from various sources. The Director will monitor childrens health and take necessary steps to secure appropriate treatment, as well as arrange for appropriate screenings to be conducted at regular intervals on all children. She/He will coordinate and develop a working Health & Nutrition Advisory Committee, which shall be made up of medical consultants, community representatives, parents, and staff.
Mininum Required Education
A Bachelors Degree is required, preferably related to the discipline of Health Services. Coursework and experience in pediatric and/or maternal health preferred. Bilingual/Bicultural in Portuguese and/or Spanish a plus.
