Job Purpose: |
To administer the distribution and inventory of resident care supplies in accordance with facility policies and regulations. |
Essential job Duties and Responsibilities: |
Supply Distribution Function: |
Inventories and stocks supplies maintained at nurses station or supply points; distributes appropriate supplies; records inventory and cost data and provides data to business office and/or inputs into computer; maintain safe and orderly work area. |
Inventory Management Function: |
Inventories and monitors central supply levels; works with management to analyze supply usage and determine inventory level and reorder points. Orders, receives, and restocks in accordance with procedures; secures emergency or critical items; monitors cost and maintains related records. |
Residents’ Rights Function and Positive Relationships: |
Understand, comply with and promote all rules regarding Residents’ rights; promote positive relationships with residents, visitors and regulators, to include presenting a professional appearance and attitude |
Volunteer Supervision: |
Recruitment, selection, orientation and daily supervision of volunteers in conjunction with the Administrator. Maintain accurate attendance records. Ensure all proper background checks have been conducted on any volunteer. Plan and coordinate annual recognition of services event for volunteers. |
Other Job Functions: |
Department Support Function: |
Assists with Nursing Department activities to include administrative support; assisting residents, families and visitors, and running errands to include travel to supply sources. |
Staff Development: |
Attend and participate in training, educational activities and staff meetings; assist with orientation and training other staff. |
Manage Compliance Function: |
Ensure ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations; ensure that the department meets or exceeds accreditation standards; and implement “best practices” in all departmental activities. Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies. |
Committee Function: |
Participate in all company committees when requested. |

Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical device): |
Works in a climate-controlled and well-lighted environment.. Works in an office and throughout the building daily. Has Category 1 risk of exposure to infectious diseases, but receives training in handwashing practices and Universal Precautions and has access to personal protective equipment if direct exposure is anticipated. Is subject to interruptions, noise, and odors daily Walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures, ability to communicate with residents and employees, ability to understand and follow training, ability to instruct staff in service education, and the ability to remain calm under stress. |
Qualifications: |
Ability to follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job. Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families, referral sources, and to work cooperatively with other associates. Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance. Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Related administrative experience preferred. |
