Head of Anesthesiology is responsible for the efficient operation of anesthesia services. Develops, implements, and maintains anesthesia procedures and practices. Being a Head of Anesthesiology works closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure the highest standards of quality and service are maintained. Manages a staff of anesthesia technicians and nurses. Additionally, Head of Anesthesiology requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a top management. The Head of Anesthesiology manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Head of Anesthesiology typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. The new Tennova Surgery Center West, connected to the Medical Center, offers four fully equipped operating rooms and two advanced endoscopic suites.
Our practice is the exclusive provider of anesthesia services at Parkwest Medical Center and Ft. Sanders Medical Center as well as the Tennova Health facilities.
Collectively, we provide services at five tertiary hospitals and seven ambulatory surgery centers, all of which are located in close proximity.
- Received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR (National Cardiovascular Data Registry) Chest Pain MI Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award
- Awarded an A in the fall 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade
Variety of cases, including general surgery, GI, cardiac, eye cases, and simple pediatric cases

Requirements
- Pre-anesthesia assessment
- Obtains and / or verifies patient consent
- Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient
- Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
- Monitoring of the patient's physiological condition
- Performance of clinical intervention as needed
- Current license as a registered professional nurse
- Graduation from an accredited program of nurse anesthesia education
- Certified or recertified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists
