Head of Housekeeping directs and coordinates the daily operations of a housekeeping services department to ensure offices, patient/guest rooms, and other specified areas are kept in a clean and orderly condition. Conducts inspections of facilities and recommends repairs and upgrades when needed. Being a Head of Housekeeping ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. May create quality standards and monitors the implementation. Additionally, Head of Housekeeping may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Head of Housekeeping typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the housekeeping staff, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard
- Train new housekeeping employees on proper cleaning techniques and procedures
- Schedule and assign daily cleaning tasks to housekeeping staff
- Inspect rooms and common areas to ensure cleanliness and adherence to company standards
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and place orders as needed
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction
- Handle guest requests or complaints related to housekeeping services
- Perform hands-on cleaning duties as needed, including custodial, commercial cleaning, floor care, buffing, and industrial cleaning
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role in housekeeping or related field
- Strong knowledge of custodial practices, commercial cleaning techniques, and facilities maintenance
- Ability to effectively communicate with staff, guests, and management
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining high cleanliness standards
- Knowledge of floor care techniques, including buffing and polishing
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle guest requests or complaints professionally
