    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Infant Toddler CDA minimum; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Child Development or related field preferred. Otherwise qualified individuals may be eligible to enter our training program to earn their CDA credential while working with us.*
    • At least one year's experience in working with children and families
    • Valid driver's license and properly insured automobile
    • Ability to develop consistent, stable and supportive relationships with very young children and their parents
    • Ability to lift and carry infants and toddlers; stand, bend, and sit for long periods; and keep pace with children by moving quickly
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with families in distress

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide infants/toddlers with experiences and opportunities that allow them to develop curiosity, initiative, problem-solving skills, and creativity, as well as a sense of self and a feeling of belonging to the group
    • Provide center-based services to families enrolled in the Early Head Start program
    • Demonstrate and communicate knowledge of infant/toddler development and methods to promote that development during the family's daily routines
    • Develop and implement an individualized, developmentally appropriate plan for each child and family that meets program standards and the family's needs
    • Change diapers of children following child care licensing regulations
    • Ensure the safety and security of all infants/toddlers at all times; maintain staff ratio at all times, never leaving a child unattended
    • Complete and enter observation notes on each child assigned daily
    • Assure all play, rest, instructional areas, rest rooms, and storage rooms are clean and safe and inspect playground daily, removing any hazards

    *Infant/Toddler Teacher Trainee Program: Individuals may be eligible to earn their Child Development Associate (CDA) credential while working with us. Interested candidates must meet all other eligibility requirements. As a trainee, you will be working directly alongside Infant/Toddler teachers in the classroom as well as taking courses for the CDA program. NPHS covers the cost of the CDA program, and our trainees earn a wage of $12.25 per hour while they are getting on the job training for their positions.
